We are announcing the launch of Abstream, a new scientific journal content aggregator. Journal content module at Life Science Network is going to be removed from the Stream in the next few days.
Since 2011, our non-profit organisation has been developing web applications that help scientists with networking, communication and recruiting. We are now announcing our fifth project, called Abstream.
Abstream is a science journal content aggregator. It is inspired by the Journal content module at Life Science Network (LSN), but with more features. Like at LSN, you can follow your favourite journals to get notified when content matching your interests is published. In addition, you can also define keywords to further filter content.
Example use cases are:
i) check which journal articles were popular in the past few days;
ii) get notified when a keyword is published in a particular journal;
iii) get notified when a keyword is published in any journal plus when any content is published in a subset of favourite journals you follow etc.
Currently, about 50 journals are featured. More will be added if people find the application useful.
Given that Abstream offers additional filtering and is mobile-optimized, we encourage all LSN members who have been following science journals at LSN, to switch to Abstream. Journal content will be removed from the LSN Stream in the following days.
You can access the project at: www.abstream.me.
Please note that Abstream is still under development. We see it as a prototype with a lot of potential, but its future will depend on your feedback and feedback of scientific journal publishers.
We look forward to your opinion and hope you will find Abstream useful and enjoy using it!
